Another day, another night
Another tear, another fight,
Another dream torn apart

A lonely path in the dark

You locked your scarred and shattered heart, to the ocean threw the key
Now there’s no one left to hold you so you cry yourself to sleep.

Now there’s no one left to hold you so you cry yourself to sleep.
How fiercely blow the winds of change when two souls drift apart.
Let the warmth of the stars kiss your face, heal your broken heart.

Another tear, another fight,

The rise to great success with most top DJs starts with a dedication born out of an obsession for music. For Markus Schulz, his story was no exception. Originally from Germany, Markus moved to the USA aged 13 and quickly become engrossed in the break-dancing scene of the time. Although a talented mover on the floor, a chance to dominate the decks at a breaks party he helped organise became the pivotal moment when Markus decided upon the path of his life’s work. That dedication has since seen him storm up the charts to take his current place at number 8 in the prestigious DJ Mag Top 100 DJ poll 2008 – a position surely set to rise in 2009.

Markus always had a desire to meet the world and has continued to tour globally over the past few years, bringing his unique brand of progressive and melodic trance to thousands of clubbers from as far afield as Australia to Russia and as far away as China and Trinidad, that combined with criss-crossing in his own country of the USA. Markus also dominates the airwaves with his weekly radio show, Global DJ Broadcast and can be heard in over 30 stations worldwide. His very special “Ibiza Summer Sessions” debuted in summer 2006 to rave reviews. Wanting to give the listener the feeling of being part of the Ibiza summer, Markus planned each week with the hottest music and best DJ’s from the Balearic Islands. The mission was to bring Ibiza to those who couldn’t be there and to add to the experience of those who were. And it worked, with new stations around the world grappling to sign the show for their listening audiences. Through his radio show, Markus was able to reach out through the airwaves and meet even more people, thus touching their lives with his music.

Markus has built himself a stellar reputation as one of the global leaders in production as well as a world renowned DJ. His own label, Coldharbour Recordings has delivered over 60 A-list releases within 3 years. His commitment to his own work as well as his peers’ has seen numerous solo, collaborative and remix projects that have enabled him to boast an unrivalled discography, largely inspired by his travels and the people he has met. With his heart at the soul of every project, Markus consistently delivers hit after hit, most notably with ‘Without You Near’, ‘Daydream’, ‘Perfect’, and his latest chart stormer ‘The New World ‘– the booming trancer and theme tune to the infamous Transmission party that has clearly set the tempo for 2009 on fire!

Following phenomenal success with Miami ‘05, Ibiza ‘06 Markus continued his city inspired series to deliver us the hugely successful Amsterdam 08, which has been nominated for Best Full Length DJ Mix at this year’s IDMA’s taking place at the annual Winter Music Conference. The nominations don’t stop there – he’s also up for Best American DJ for the second year running… could this be his year? Next up, Markus continues his musical tour of the world with this year’s Canadian inspired ‘Toronto 09′, a mind blowing belter that celebrates the community spirit within the clubbing scene of the city. 2008 saw Markus release Progression Progressed, a rare reworking of his album Progression 2007 that brought together a collection of interpretations by some of the most talented producers on offer including: Mat Zo, Nic Chagall, Mark Otten and Monogato, as well as an inspired collection of remixes and new tracks from Markus himself. Toronto ‘09 gives Markus the opportunity to bring his experiences from his tours and inspiration from his audiences to all fans worldwide with his unique stamp on things.

Schulz’s steadily growing collection of awards is testament to his influence on the dance music community, and ever increasing popularity. His relentless determination to bring new sounds and new experiences to his audiences and fans worldwide demonstrates a passionate enthusiasm that knows no bounds and firmly sets Markus up as one of THE forces to be reckoned with in dance for 2009 and beyond!

Stay tuned, his story has only just begun…

Vincent de Moor Biography

Born in Delft, Holland, Vincent started his career as producer in 1993 with titles such as “Enjoy Yourself”. Under his nicknames “Fix to Fax,” “Sidewalk,” and “M.Theatre,” on the local label “Laser Squad,” he produced many floorfillers which began his launch to success.

After starting the label “Funny Vinyl, the people from the “Combined Forces” record label noticed that the productions Vincent made were becoming better and his first record under his new label was the proof. In that same period, one of Holland’s most famous DJs, Remy, asked him to make a production for his new “Taste-label.” His fame skyrocketted soon after.

In 1997 he stormed into the Uk dance charts with his classic trance tune Flowtation, which was released on the prestigious XL Recordings label. In 1998 Vincent returned with the single “Orion City” which is followed by his album “Orion City”. 1999 is the year in which the Dutch Trance is blowing up especially in the UK. Vincent teamed up with fellow Dutchman Ferry Corsten and they produced another classic tune: “Veracocha ? Carte Blanche”. In 2000 the album “Moor” is released. On this album you can find “Fly Away” which have been released in Europe as a single, and is one of the more famous titles that Vincent has become known for.

In 2003, Vincent has brought in a new project: Questia. The project came out on the A State Of Trance label in June, 2003.

Sebastian Brandt

Lately, it seems all the magic comes from the upper side of Europe. It’s the cold and beautiful Scandinavia that delivers a big part of the best trance beats at the moment. One of the producers to capture them is Sebastian Brandt. Despite the young age of only 20, this Swedish producer has managed to leave his footprints on trance history. With a clear, promising future ahead of him and plenty of inspiration to produce another range of fine tunes, Sebastian Brandt isn’t even close to the top of his curve.

His one true passion

Sebastian: “When I was about four years old I started collecting these Swedish compilations CD’s called ‘Absolute Dance’. I think that was the first small step of building a deep interest of electronic dance music. I didn’t really listen to any EDM when I was six or seven, but a few years later I remember hearing a couple of tunes on the radio. One of them was ‘Safri Duo – Played Alive’. It was one of those tracks that really made me realize Trance music was slowly becoming my one true passion in life.“
And so began the story of producer/DJ Sebastian Brandt. While most teenagers spend their time collecting football cards and playing tag, Sebastian began producing his first loops and beats. Sebastian: “I started making music when I was about 10 years old. After a couple of years I joined some online forums and started sharing my music with others there, which helped me a lot. Getting feedback from others was really important for me.” It helped him developing his skills and gave him the confidence he needed to eventually introduce his sound to the crowds. However, it wasn’t until 2006 that his first solo record would see the light.

Going solo

A melodic trancer called ‘Mysteria’ was the official first Sebastian Brandt release. ‘Mysteria’ already had the typical Brandt sound, that can still be heard in his current productions. But more so, was it Selu Vibra that put Sebastian’s name on the map. He teamed up with fellow-country producer Ludvig Holm, who produces under the Algarve alias, and hit the studio. The outcome was ‘Divine’; a sweet, uplifting trance anthem that was one of the biggest trance tunes that year, 2006. ‘Stargazing’ was the follow-up to this massive success, and also received a more than warm welcome. Another project Sebastian had success with was Under Sun, with Marcus Schössow as his producing mate. They released the lovely ‘Capoeira’ and ‘Captured’, both on Armada’s A State of Trance imprint. But after 2007, the main focus was on Sebastian’s solo career. And it’s been a good career so far. His ‘epic, danceable and euphoric’ style is transmitted through a variety of tracks, flowingly mixed together. Sebastian :“Mainly, my sets today are built from slower melodic trance up to the 140 uplifting stuff. I guess what makes me special is that I try to play tracks that others don’t, which in the end works really well for me.” And not only does it work for him, it also works for the crowd. Sebastian is one of the most requested Scandinavian DJ’s, and has played in numerous venues around the globe.

A way back to the music

‘So Cold’, ‘Technology’, ‘Serenade’ and numerous banging remixes with the Sebastian sound written all over have enriched the trance scene over the past years. Sebastian may be fully focused on music, he’s also wise enough to have a back-up plan. Sebastian: “I actually dropped out 2nd year in high school because I didn’t feel it was something for me. But last year I made the mature decision of going back to school, so at the moment I’m studying half time and producing/DJ’ing half time.” Afraid to run out of inspiration, or give up on music, sure isn’t cluttering his mind. “I don’t think there is a chance in the world I would get tired of EDM. This music has always found its way back naturally to me.” Stay tuned to find out what Sebastian has in stores for the future. Cause if one thing’s obvious, it’s that it is a bright looking one.
